TRAVEL STUDY

catCh a vibe, join the movement

Traveling alone means figuring out flights, accommodations, safety, scheduling, budgeting, transportation, food, classes, and cultural etiquette—completely solo. Our Travel Studies program removes the stress and adds purpose.

By traveling with us, students receive:

• Curated cultural experiences that introduce you to communities, dancers, teachers, and creative hubs you’d never access on your own.
• Group housing and pre-planned logistics so you never navigate a foreign country without support.
• A built-in community of peers and mentors who care about you, travel with you, and grow with you.
• Safety and accountability systems that solo travelers often don’t have and can’t rely on.
• Daily programming that blends exploration, artistry, and learning—all crafted for young dancers.
• Lifelong connections across borders with people who share your passion.

Your Questions, Answered

  • This program is an immersive educational experience designed to deepen students’ cultural, artistic, and historical understanding of House and Hip-Hop dance through direct engagement. Participants will study on location, attend guided experiences, and reflect through structured learning activities that connect travel to academic and creative growth.

  • The program is open to students, artists, and curious learners who are eager to engage deeply with culture and community. No prior international travel or specialized experience is required—just openness, responsibility, and a willingness to participate fully.

  • Program costs typically include shared housing, scheduled educational activities, local transportation during program events, and on-site guidance. International airfare, travel and emergency medical insurance as well as a small emergency fund. Cost of passports, visas, food, personal spending, and optional excursions are usually not included unless otherwise specified.

  • Days are structured but balanced. Expect a mix of guided sessions, special guest workshops and discussions, and independent exploration time. There will be intentional downtime built in so participants can rest, reflect, and experience the city organically.

  • Moderately. Amsterdam is a very walkable city and our accommodations are less than a 10 minute walk from the main venue. While no extreme physical demands are expected, participants should be comfortable being on their feet for several hours at a time, and likely dancing everyday.

  • Yes. Through the combined efforts of Renovate, WhackingLA and Versastyles Dance Company, a limited number of need-based and mission-aligned scholarships will be available for the August 2026 program in Amsterdam.

Scholarships are intended to support participants who demonstrate financial need, artistic/academic promise, and strong alignment with the values of the Renovate program. The application process includes a short written statement and, if applicable, documentation of need.

Recipients will be notified May 1st.

Our goal is to reduce economic barriers so that a diverse group of students and artists can participate meaningfully in this international experience. More information available in the scholarship section.
